Long Low Line Of Hills
05:01
|
|||
How do we find our way home
Is it stars or the scent of the rain
A certain slant of light as the road leads us on
How do we find our way back home
How do we know that this is our home
Is it love for those that we hold
Pictures on the wall, memories old and new
How do we know that we’ve reached home
The distance in-between us like I’m driving flying higher
Than the runway angels diving
Down through burning clouds of sunset
And I am getting thrilled as that long low line of hills
Guides me faster than a soundwave, into your arms
How do we know?

Swans On The River
03:07
|
|||
Silent on the water
Summer down to come
Cotton bright this afternoon
Breaking the shine of long floating trees
Moving mirrors on the surface
To the source then to the sea
Dancing without moving
A feather bridge between the reeds
April afternoon
Thank God I’ve not missed this
A white crown on the water
I know I mean nothing to you
The price of love is what you lose
Shimmering on the blue ribbon
Fly across the meadow
A moment more and you were gone
So I moved on

Earthed
05:55
|
|||
Touching the ground I feel the force
That flows all around under me, this ancient sea
I heard a sound, this voice I have found
Calling to me, through the trees
It sets me free
I’m sown and bound, held in this place
My home and soil, harvesting me in my time
On this earth, my sense of my worth
Clouds blow my way
The rain falling each and every day
Finding a home where love resides
With arms that hold you
This work of a life, head to the light
I heard a word, this love I have found
Earthed to the soil
Holding me fast, a lifetime to last
I’m placed and sound, love grows in me
My piece of earth shared with my love
Given to all
All my time, take all that’s mine
Clouds blow away
The sun setting each and every day

My Garden
00:57
|
|||
I like my piece of the world
I like how I know
The sun moves across the lawn
I like my trees and the soil
Here I am earthed, here I belong

The November Roses
03:04
|
|||
That first November sky
A dry cold night of burning stars
Leaves of gold upon the ground
Torn from the frozen trees
By an eastern wind
As I turn and draw you close to me
Ice edged summer leaves
A frost star bright upon a thorn
Footsteps crush the whitening lawn
Cold folds the crimson bloom
As the night air falls
And I turn and walk inside to you
The last November rose
Fading gold against the wall
Petals falling to the ground
Winter is truly here
As the year dissolves
And Spring waits for your love tonight

Glittering
04:38
|
|||
Brushed past my face in the night
Beneath the cherry tree I stand
And gaze amazed at stars so far so close
Threads of brightness silver line
A light so cold, old blue and white
As stars come through the dark of time to now
I can’t sleep I’m too astounded
Galaxies come down and touch the ground
I stand on, turning clouds of dust
In my garden I’m connected
So perfected by the sight of
Constellations keep me grounded here
Cherry blossom softening the ground
They sound like falling moonlight
I tread slowly on these heavens
Deafened by the star sound glittering

Xanthe's Sunday Song
06:01
|
|||
This day, this place
I want to write it down
Keep it safe for my friends
No words, no lines
That I could hope to write
In this life would suffice
I read, I fall
At words by other minds
Brilliant lines, catch it all
Teddy Hughes, Billy Wordsworth
Jimmy Rebanks, Alfie Wainwright…
If I could write just one page
That shows the world the way I see it
That would do
I would post it in a letter
Hoping you would see it too
(sigh)
We write, we share
On Sundays in the rain
Open a page, let out the sun

The Ghost
02:24
|
|||
If I should go before you
Be sure, I won’t stay around
If you should be, beyond me
Be sure, I won’t want to know

Into The Green
03:46
|
|||
I’m heading north into the hills again
To see them rising up from the level plain
Climbing up into the glowing sky
I want to feel amazed by that Summer light
Worn away by the city’s grey
It stains my skin it steals my sleep away
Stepping out into the shining lake
And wash away all this tired hate
So I shall walk from this endless rain
Into the green where I can breathe again

Church Of The Open Skies
05:00
|
|||
Black cassocked crows
Baptised in the rain
The bells are the fells
And the beck is a font
For pews I use
A stone on the ground
My choir flies through the air
And their hymns don’t have words
Foot over foot, I’m rising up
Each step on the ground a prayer
At the top in the sun
(listen)
I meet you
